SMF Welcomes Temple Coffee, Bawk!, Nixtaco as Concessions Transformation Nears Completion
Sacramento, CA – Sacramento International Airport (SMF) today celebrated the grand opening of Temple Coffee Roasters, Bawk! and Nixtaco, three locally owned brands operated by High Flying Foods that represent the latest milestone in the Airport's ongoing concessions redevelopment program.
The new concepts continue a multi-year effort to modernize dining and retail offerings throughout the Airport, creating a passenger experience that reflects the Sacramento region while expanding opportunities for local businesses. When complete, the concessions program will increase the Airport's food, beverage and retail offerings from 17 to 23 concepts and support approximately 540 jobs.
Temple Coffee Roasters, an internationally recognized specialty coffee company founded in Sacramento, joins Nixtaco, known for its nationally acclaimed authentic Mexican cuisine, and Bawk!, a local favorite specializing in fried chicken. Together, the three businesses bring distinctive Sacramento brands to travelers in both terminals.
"Our goal throughout this concessions program has been to create an airport experience that reflects the region we serve," said Cindy Nichol, Director of Airports for Sacramento County. "These businesses have earned loyal followings in our community, and their addition to SMF gives travelers more opportunities to experience the quality, creativity and entrepreneurial spirit that define Sacramento. Today's opening represents another significant milestone as we continue transforming the airport's dining program."
The three concepts are operated by High Flying Foods, the Airport's concessions partner, which has worked to recruit local businesses as part of the redevelopment effort.
"We're incredibly proud to bring Nixtaco, Temple, and Bawk! to Sacramento International Airport.” Partnering with talented local restaurateurs like Patricio Wise and Cinthia Martinez of Nixtaco, Sean Kohmescher of Temple, and Rob Archie and Greg Desmangles of Bawk is an absolute honor. Their culinary talent and deep roots in the region perfectly align with High Flying Foods' commitment to deliver exceptional, chef-driven airport dining experiences. We're thrilled to share these concepts with travelers from around the world and proud to showcase a lineup that is a true reflection of the local community.
The openings build on the Airport's commitment to increasing the number of locally owned businesses operating at SMF while enhancing the overall passenger experience. The concessions redevelopment includes new dining, retail and beverage concepts throughout both terminals, with additional openings planned over the coming months.
Temple Coffee, Bawk! and Nixtaco are now open to passengers in SMF Terminal B.
