Security at Sacramento International Airport is achieved via the joint efforts of the Sacramento County Department of Airports; Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department, Airport Division; private security companies; and two agencies of the Department of Homeland Security: US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) and the Transportation Security Administration (TSA).

If your item was lost at Sacramento International Airport, please contact the airport’s Lost and Found Department.

If your item was left on aircraft, at the ticket counter, or on the baggage carousel, please contact your airline.

The Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department provides law enforcement services for the airport and surrounding areas. Deputies work closely with airport staff, airlines, firefighters, Department of Homeland Security, Transportation Security Administration (TSA), U.S. Customs and Border Protection, Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and other federal and state law enforcement agencies to provide a safe environment at Sacramento International Airport.

TSA checkpoints open daily at 4 a.m. The TSA requires all passengers to be screened before boarding a flight. Passengers are expected to be familiar with the rules and regulations regarding prohibited items. Visit the TSA website via the links below to prepare for the security checkpoint.

If you are selected for secondary screening – either randomly or due to an alert during primary screening – you have the right to request a private screening.

All passengers arriving from foreign countries will be processed by Customs and Border Protection (CBP) upon arrival at a US airport.
