West Coast Sourdough Celebrates Grand Opening at Sacramento International Airport
Sacramento, CA – The Sacramento County Department of Airports is pleased to announce the grand opening of West Coast Sourdough at Sacramento International Airport (SMF), marking both the company’s airport debut and the first of a broad revitalization initiative for the airport’s dining and concessions offering.
“Today we take the first tangible step in transforming the dining experience at SMF,” said Cindy Nichol, Director of Airports. “By partnering with locally owned businesses like West Coast Sourdough and aligning our concessions program with our community’s unique identity, we’re building an airport that serves both the traveler and the region. We’re excited to deliver more choice, more local flavor and better service in every terminal.”
West Coast Sourdough, a small local business, brings travelers and airport employees the comforting classics they’ve been asking for like fresh sandwiches, hearty soups, and signature sourdough bread. The addition fulfills one of SMF’s most common food-service requests, particularly among flight crews seeking warm, quick meals between flights.
“Opening at Sacramento International Airport is a major milestone for our business,” said Robbie Bassi, owner of West Coast Sourdough. “I’m incredibly grateful for this opportunity and want to extend my sincere thanks to the Sacramento County Board of Supervisors, the Airport Board of Directors, and the entire SMF concessions team for their support and partnership. We’re excited to build a long-lasting relationship here and to serve our fresh sourdough sandwiches, soups, and salads to travelers and airport staff for many years to come.”
This launch is just the beginning of SMF’s concessions redevelopment, with additional new dining concepts scheduled to open across Terminals A and B during 2025 and 2026. For more information on the full concessions program and next-phase openings, please visit flySMF.gov/new-concessions.
